Workplace fire prevention starts with understanding where fire hazards exist and incorporating appropriate controls into everyday work.
Effective fire prevention is not one single activity. It requires ongoing hazard identification, safe material storage, equipment maintenance, building controls and regular review of emergency systems.
Start With Your Hazard Assessment
Fire hazards should be considered as part of the workplace hazard assessment process.
Look at the materials, equipment and activities within each work area and consider how a fire could start, what could fuel it and how quickly it could spread.
Common Ignition Sources
